Overview

I have been teaching mathematics for over ten years. I pursued my Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, but my mathematics teacher was my mentor, and he inspired me to become a teacher. In 2015, I started working at the College of Engineering Roorkee, and from 2013 to 2015, I worked at the Doohn Institute of Engineering.
In 2019, I started my coaching centre, where I usually conduct three batches daily. More than ten to twelve students in each batch score 90-95% in mathematics. I teach mathematics and science for grades ninth to twelfth and foundation mathematics for IIT JEE Main. I also teach for Uttarakhand, UP board state, CBSE, and ICSE. My classes are conducted offline and last for one and a half hours. I start my classes from 3 pm to 8 pm, with a lesson plan that is an interactive session based on the curriculum.
Teaching mathematics has been a passion of mine, and I take great pride in seeing my students excel in the subject. Mathematics is a subject that requires patience, hard work, and practice, and I make sure that my students are given the necessary guidance to succeed. I use a whiteboard and PPT to help students understand the concepts more quickly. I have also prepared notes for my students and provided them with questionnaires for the exam board. I conduct weekly tests to ensure students keep up with their studies. As a teacher, my ultimate goal is to make mathematics fun and engaging for my students. I always encourage them to ask questions, clear their doubts, and ensure no student is left behind.

Based on my practical experience with students over decades, some very effective techniques are - Don't set fluency targets - Never ever commit the mistake of setting a "number of words spoken per minute" kind of targets. They are destructive as they do not allow the mind to really work constructively without pressure. Be a natural - Let things happen naturally. As you read more, and convert the read word into spoken word, your speed will gradually pick up. Do not be artificial. Read, read, read - As you read more, your confidence about issues / topics / subjects will grow. You will start owning knowledge. You will develop an inner, natural strength. It is a matter of time that is starts showing on your face. Write at least 1 essay per day - It is the ultimate test of what you are learning, and if you are learning something at all. Pick a plain paper, think of a topic, and write an essay (300 words max) on it. Do it every day. It will very productively force you to raise the level of the game. Learn at least 5 new words per day - Try picking up 5 new English words each day. Make sentences with them. This is how you create the framework for sustained learning over months and years. Very useful trick. Be measured while you speak - Do not try to outgun anyone in the group. Take a few seconds before you react (2 or 3 seconds, say). That will ensure that you do not over-react, instant-react, or wrong-react. Talk to yourself - You will never be ashamed doing that. Keep doing it regularly. It will open up your tongue. Shout, at least once a day - Go to the rooftop literally, and shout aloud. Do that for some minutes. Speak something sensible if you can. It will train the mind not to be scared of anything. Of course, if you do that elsewhere, people may beat you up :) Love yourself for what you are - This is perhaps the most crucial step. If you hate yourself for not being a fluent English speaker (as per whatever random benchmark you've adopted), your sense of self-worth will be destroyed. Don't let that happen to you. I have come across some really fast speakers who talk sense, and some who are idiots; some measured speakers who talk a lot of sense; and some slow speakers who are a pleasure to listen to. It all depends on your profession, your eye-contact and body language, and the choice of words + depth of knowledge. Listening: TED: Ideas worth spreading - great speeches in English - interesting people sharing interesting ideas. You can select category based on your interests, listen, watch and read subtitles in the same time. Speak English With Misterduncan - youtube channel of English teacher from Britain who loves making videos to help people learn English. His youtube profile is full of original videos. Interesting topics, explained in a fun way, with subtitles. Elementary podcasts - elementary podcast (British Council) - very nice podcasts which include transcripts, exercises and small games. You can also download these podcasts to you phone / mp3 player and listen to them anywhere BBC - iPlayer Radio (or any other radio where English is used) Choose your favourite station and enjoy Speaking: Speech shadowing technique - I have mentioned this techniques several times here on Quora, but it really works for me, so I believe it will also work for you. You can use this technique with any of the sources which are mentioned above. Based on my practical experience with students over decades, some very effective techniques are - Don't set fluency targets - Never ever commit the mistake of setting a "number of words spoken per minute" kind of targets. They are destructive as they do not allow the mind to really work constructively... ...more
Based on my practical experience with students over decades, some very effective techniques are - Don't set fluency targets - Never ever commit the mistake of setting a "number of words spoken per minute" kind of targets. They are destructive as they do not allow the mind to really work constructively without pressure. Be a natural - Let things happen naturally. As you read more, and convert the read word into spoken word, your speed will gradually pick up. Do not be artificial. Read, read, read - As you read more, your confidence about issues / topics / subjects will grow. You will start owning knowledge. You will develop an inner, natural strength. It is a matter of time that is starts showing on your face. Write at least 1 essay per day - It is the ultimate test of what you are learning, and if you are learning something at all. Pick a plain paper, think of a topic, and write an essay (300 words max) on it. Do it every day. It will very productively force you to raise the level of the game. Learn at least 5 new words per day - Try picking up 5 new English words each day. Make sentences with them. This is how you create the framework for sustained learning over months and years. Very useful trick. Be measured while you speak - Do not try to outgun anyone in the group. Take a few seconds before you react (2 or 3 seconds, say). That will ensure that you do not over-react, instant-react, or wrong-react. Talk to yourself - You will never be ashamed doing that. Keep doing it regularly. It will open up your tongue. Shout, at least once a day - Go to the rooftop literally, and shout aloud. Do that for some minutes. Speak something sensible if you can. It will train the mind not to be scared of anything. Of course, if you do that elsewhere, people may beat you up :) Love yourself for what you are - This is perhaps the most crucial step. If you hate yourself for not being a fluent English speaker (as per whatever random benchmark you've adopted), your sense of self-worth will be destroyed. Don't let that happen to you. I have come across some really fast speakers who talk sense, and some who are idiots; some measured speakers who talk a lot of sense; and some slow speakers who are a pleasure to listen to. It all depends on your profession, your eye-contact and body language, and the choice of words + depth of knowledge. Listening: TED: Ideas worth spreading - great speeches in English - interesting people sharing interesting ideas. You can select category based on your interests, listen, watch and read subtitles in the same time. Speak English With Misterduncan - youtube channel of English teacher from Britain who loves making videos to help people learn English. His youtube profile is full of original videos. Interesting topics, explained in a fun way, with subtitles. Elementary podcasts - elementary podcast (British Council) - very nice podcasts which include transcripts, exercises and small games. You can also download these podcasts to you phone / mp3 player and listen to them anywhere BBC - iPlayer Radio (or any other radio where English is used) Choose your favourite station and enjoy Speaking: Speech shadowing technique - I have mentioned this techniques several times here on Quora, but it really works for me, so I believe it will also work for you. You can use this technique with any of the sources which are mentioned above. (how to use the technique: (Fun and effective way to learn English – Speech shadowing ) So relax, and start your personal journey of success! It will take time, so buckle up. Wish you great luck.
