This is a common problem among students. Having many opportunities can be confusing sometimes. You should take time and decide what do you want in life. If you cannot decide right now it is perfectly ok. You are not alone. But no matter what you study, study it with passion and full involvement and you will be successful for sure.

The Energy Band Gap is an energy range which no electrons inside a semiconductor can have. The electrons either have energy lower than this range or higher than it. If an electron has energy lower than this range then it is bound to a particular atom(and called valence electron). If an electron has energy higher than this range then it can move freely inside the semiconductor(called conduction electron).Alternatively, you can think of it as the energy you need to give a valence electron for it to become a conduction electron.
