I have teaching experience in percussion music with a specialization in tabla, working with students across different age groups and skill levels. I have trained beginners in fundamental concepts such as basic bols, correct hand techniques, posture, and simple talas, while also guiding intermediate and advanced students through more complex compositions like kaidas, relas, and gats, along with improvisation skills. My teaching methodology combines the traditional guru-shishya approach with a structured and student-focused learning system. I place strong emphasis on developing a clear sense of rhythm, accuracy in tala, and consistent riyaz (practice). I also incorporate padhant (verbal recitation of bols) to strengthen rhythmic understanding and internalization. In addition to technical training, I encourage students to listen to classical music and practice accompaniment, helping them develop coordination and musical sensitivity. I provide regular feedback, assessments, and personalized guidance to ensure continuous improvement. My objective as a teacher is to build a strong foundation in tabla while nurturing creativity, discipline, and confidence in each student, enabling them to appreciate and carry forward the rich tradition of Indian percussion music.
