For teaching lower-class students, I believe whiteboard is not mandatory. It depends on which subject you are teaching. If you are teaching language or history, you can engage students with your oration. You can teach them as if you are telling a story and the students will never forget what you taught. For science subject, you may require a whiteboard. Better if you have made a presentation on your topic before, that is indeed good, and you just need to share the screen playing that. Whiteboard is mandatory if you are teaching mathematics. However you can still teach by dividingsharing the screen, but won't be that effective as whiteboard does.
