in DC drives that to shunt machinesre having constant speed characteristics that means almost their speed is independent of load

if the speed of the rotor reaches to synchronous speed then other is no relative speed between the rotor and stator field hence no e.m.f and hence no current. due to this no torque to maintain rotation. that is the reason for IM always runs below synch speed.
