I teach students various subjects that are important to become a fashion designer like sketching, fashion illustration, surface ornamentation, history of fashion, digital illustration, design process and portfolio development. All these various subjects are thoroughly taught using various tools and methodologies like demos, videos, notes etc. Most of these classes are designed to encourage students to explore their own skills and capabilities rather than just following the teacher. The classes are also made very engaging with ample interaction, doubt clearing and discussions. Students are also encouraged to give presentations in the classes to give them a feel of the real world industry.

I have taught various different embroideries starting from basic stitches like stem stitch, chain stitch, blanket stitch, lazy daisy stitch etc. to some popular Indian traditional embroideries like Kantha, Kasuti, Kashida etc. I have also taught advanced surface developments techniques using techniques using contemporary embroidery techniques and ideas. I try to help students not just embroider but create thematic and conceptualised fabrics suitable for the creative world of fashion which is always exploring newer and newer ideas.I have taken such sessions at NIFT, INIFD, FDDI, JD Institute of Fashion Technology, KIIT.

While training students in sketching, I first try to help students understand various little aspects of sketching like materials, forms, shapes, light and shadow, depth, value, tint, shade etc. I also try to introduce students to various techniques of sketching like hatching, cross hatching, scribbling etc. Once students get a hang of materials and techniques, I try to give them sessions on product sketching, landscape sketching, perspective and others. Students are also taught sketching through other mediums like pencils, charcoal pencils, water colour, soft pastels etc.

I have given soft skills, employability skills and life skills training at various colleges for graduating students who are job seekers. In these training sessions I teach them multiple aspects of soft skills which starts with basically knowing themselves and their skills. Eventually they proceed to learn how to define themselves in the professional fields highlighting their strengths and skills. Students also learn some English communication in terms of verbal communication, email writing etc. Students are also taught other aspects of soft skills like time management, stress management, goal setting. Students are taught the basic ways of group discussion and facing an interview and are encouraged to participate in the same through class activities. These classes aim at all round development for a student to be job ready.

I have experience conducting art and craft classes for students across various age groups, with the curriculum tailored according to their age, skill level, and prior experience. The structure of the classes progresses from foundational learning for beginners to more exploratory and material-based practices at the advanced intermediate level. At the beginner stage, students are introduced to essential art materials and mediums, along with their properties and applications. They learn to construct basic shapes and forms, developing an understanding of proportion, structure, and spatial relationships. Training includes both two-dimensional and three-dimensional work, along with shading and rendering techniques using colour pencils, charcoal pencils, and watercolours. Students also engage in interactive craft activities such as collage-making, origami, paper craft, and 3D texture development, which enhance their creativity and fine motor skills. As students advance, they begin experimenting with a wider range of materials including plastic, metal, yarn, and waste fabrics. A strong emphasis is placed on sustainability and creative reuse, encouraging learners to transform discarded materials into innovative and functional products. They are introduced to yarn and textile-based techniques such as macramé, crochet, braiding, and appliqué, combining craftsmanship with design thinking. Overall, my teaching approach focuses on nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and material sensitivity. The objective is not only to build technical skills but also to help students explore their creative potential, gain confidence in their abilities, and consider diverse possibilities within artistic and craft-based career paths.
