I am from Kolkata and working as Engagement Manager for a strategy and management consulting firm. My stint with German started during my college years. While enrolling in the Masters Program in International Relations, we had to compulsorily take up a foreign language as elective. I chose German as the most prominent exponents of political philosophy I knew about were from Germany. 2 years went fast, and I was deeper in love with the language. While managing an International Fellowship Program at my University, I had tutored 5 batches of University students in German. I invested years in learning it further, completed 3 years of Diploma as well as B2.2 in German from MMB. I received Teachers' Training from MMB and taught German to KV students too. I remember this time vividly as one of my students made be real proud by topping the international exam 'Fit in Deutsch'. I've undergone distance learning program of Goethe Institute Germany under the mentor-ship of Frau Bocak,
Exposure to German has helped me in my consulting career. It was an added advantage when I had to look for technology consulting firms abroad for an NPD Project or while communicating with a faculty member of TU/e. I've also translated quite a few business documents including the complete product brochure of a salon tool manufacturing company in Germany. I've seen younger students learn German with total involvement and adults picking it up quickly when showing enough alertness. Happy learning.
